Iron supplements, dietary supplements that contain iron which you must be thinking to take for treating the deficiency of iron in your body.
Iron is a very important constituent of your body. It is responsible for carrying oxygen from your lungs to other parts of your body which need oxygen to do their daily work.

Before taking the supplement you must be aware that do your body really need these supplements or you are taking a wrong step.
Only the persons who suffer from anaemia disease or a lady who is having their menstrual cycles can take these supplements. Others must not take them.

So, you must monitor the amount of supplement and which type of supplement you are using as there are two types of iron supplements which are ferric and ferrous. You must be well aware about these things before you are starting to take iron supplements.

3.Side-effects of iron supplements

Another important point that you must be aware about is the side-effects that these iron supplements can cause.
Ferric and ferrous are the two types of supplements. Although ferric supplement can be easily absorbed in the body, that’s why it can be suggested that you should take ferric supplement but chances of problems like constipation, cramping in adnominal and nausea are more prone in case of  ferric supplement . So, you should decide according to your body which supplement is suitable for you.
Another point that you should keep in mind is that if you are starting a particular dose then it does not mean that you will continue the same dose. Requirement of your body can change with time. So, you should be aware when you need to change your dose.
There is one more side-effect of iron supplement which however does not affect the work of iron supplement but can disturb the working of green tea.
If you take your iron supplement with green tea then anti-oxidants present in green tea are un-effective on your body. So, you should not take green tea with iron supplement.
These are the three things that you must be aware before you start taking iron supplement. Initially, you should try if you can fulfil the requirement of iron of your body with iron rich foods.
But iron deficiency has reached up to a level that you have to take the supplements then be careful with the type of supplement, amount of supplement and the side-effects that they can cause to your body.
